What is CLAT?
Common Law Admission Test
CLAT is the single most important entrance test for admission to 5-year integrated law programmes at 24 National Law Universities. It's a 2-hour, 120-question comprehension-heavy paper — not a memory test — and the students who crack it are the ones whose reading speed and legal-reasoning frameworks were built over two years, not two months.
Eligibility
- 10+2 or equivalent with 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD)
- Class 12 appearing candidates are eligible
- No upper age limit as of the 2024 Consortium notification

Build a reading habit. Learn the legal-reasoning framework from scratch.
TCR's role: Aagaz / Uttham foundation begins here. First 4 weeks: pure reading rebuild.
9 months out · September–December
Full coverage of Legal / Logical Reasoning + Quant. Sectional mocks.
TCR's role: Weekly sectional mocks + 1:1 analysis. Error-log rules in your own words.
6 months out · January–April
Full-length mocks begin. Current Affairs sprint.
TCR's role: Two full mocks/week + 60-min mentor call on the error log.
3 months out · May–July
Only mocks + revision. No new material.
TCR's role: Daily current-affairs sprint. Personal mock-analysis with Shivam or section lead.
Exam week · November–December
Sleep 8h. One paper every alternate day.

CLAT FAQ
What is the age limit and how many attempts can I take?
As of the latest CNLU notification (2024), there is no upper age limit for CLAT, and no cap on attempts.
How is CLAT different from AILET?
CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs (24 NLUs). AILET is conducted by NLU Delhi and admits only there. AILET is shorter, sharper, and heavier on Logical Reasoning.
How is the CLAT score calculated?
+1 per correct, −0.25 per wrong. Raw score is normalised across 120 questions. NLSIU Bangalore closes around 90+ for the general category.
Which NLUs accept CLAT?
All 24 NLUs except NLU Delhi. That includes NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, and 21 others.
When is CLAT 2027?
The Consortium usually announces the date in July of the preceding year. CLAT typically runs on the first Sunday of December.
Is coaching necessary for CLAT?
Not legally required — but at NLSIU/NALSAR/NUJS ranks, structured coaching with mock-analysis and mentor accountability compresses the timeline substantially.
