Life at NLU, Honestly: What Your First Semester Actually Looks Like
Week one: the myth breaks
You show up expecting genius. Then you meet everyone at breakfast and realise: they're smart, sure, but nobody has a superpower. Everyone here got in by doing the same boring, disciplined thing you did.
“The best thing NLU teaches you in the first month is that the AIR you obsessed over stops mattering exactly one week after orientation.”
Do I need to already know legal concepts before joining an NLU?
No. First semester teaches you from scratch. What helps is comfort with reading long English passages — which you already built during CLAT prep.
How competitive is the first semester really?
Less than you think. The hyper-competitive stuff starts around second year with moots and internships. First semester is mostly figuring out how law school works.
