What is AILET?

All India Law Entrance Test

AILET is NLU Delhi's own entrance test — separate from CLAT, sharper in style, and the gateway to what is arguably India's most competitive law school. It's 90 minutes for 150 questions. Where CLAT rewards patient comprehension, AILET rewards speed and pattern-recognition.

Conducted by: National Law University, Delhi · Official website ↗

Why TCR for AILET

Taught by mentors who sat this paper.

01

AILET AIR 1 came out of this room

In our first year of operation, TCR's Aryan JB Singh topped AILET 2026 nationally. Through reading-first methodology, small batches, and weekly 1:1 mock analysis.

02

The Logical-Reasoning framework decides the ranks

AILET's 70-question Logical Reasoning section is what separates NLU Delhi from a mid-tier NLU. We drill the pattern-recognition that turns 40/70 into 60/70.

03

NLU Delhi alumni faculty

AILET is NLU Delhi's own paper. Style, weighting, and patterns are best taught by mentors who read law inside that building.

04

AILET is a sprint — we train sprint discipline

One question every 36 seconds. Our mock series is built around AILET's pacing, not CLAT's.

Questions students actually ask

AILET FAQ

Am I eligible for AILET straight after Class 12?

Yes. Class 12 appearing students (expected 45%, or 40% for reserved categories) can appear for AILET's 5-year integrated LL.B. entrance.

How does AILET differ from CLAT?

90 min vs 120 min, 150 questions vs 120, and heavy Logical Reasoning weight with no separate Legal Reasoning section.

How many seats does NLU Delhi have?

≈100 through AILET. General-category closing rank typically falls between 70 and 100 — top-100 performance is required.

Does NLU Delhi accept CLAT?

No. NLU Delhi conducts AILET independently and admits solely on AILET rank.

How much CLAT prep translates to AILET?

Around 80%. The remaining 20% is AILET-specific pacing and the heavier Logical Reasoning tilt — where ranks are actually won.

What are NLU Delhi's placements like?

Consistently top 3 with NLSIU and NALSAR. Median first-year packages above ₹18 LPA at Tier-1 law firms. Proximity to the Supreme Court is distinctive.
